Okay, I read the "prequel" Surrounded by Death first and that may have prejudiced me against this whole "mate by force" idea, I admit it. But I still find the whole idea of "mate anything single", well, silly. Maybe it has something to do with being cats that I just don't understand. But, if you can get past the whole idea of if the female doesn't accept the mating they're going to kill each other thing, it's not bad. Except, Josh was beyond crude from the first comment out of his mouth and how anyone would find that behavior sexy in a total stranger is another thing I just don't understand. He did seem to redeem himself with further acquaintance, I'm just not sure anyone would have really stayed around to let him. But, hey, this is fiction, right? And, if you can get past the whole "mate or kill" thing, it's okay. Don't think I'll be reading any more though.Product details

*After reading this ebook my mouth still hung open on my desk* this is one hot dominant novella read here. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop and there better be more books coming…. This was very fast pace read with all of the goodies that comes with an erotic paranormal romance.
What I look for in a novella is fun, excitement and most of all connection between a couple in romance. Most of the time with the novella’s I find it’s hard to find the right connection between couples because it’s just hard to get everything in a shorter book. This one fit’s my excellent novella quality and the connection between these two are high. I find very few authors that can accomplish the this, so congrats. I know there are always people who want’s a longer story, but hey if it made you happy after your done why fuss?… Anyhow, this book is top on my recommend list. If your one for a small story, fun, romance and some hot dominating mountain lion shifters, you have try this one.
Now, on to the story which I am not telling you much of because you need to read it LOL. So, Mikaela finds her dead beat fiancé doing something with someone else, but she doesn’t want to tell anyone just yet. So, she lives a lie and is sent to this client that only wants mated females to come. Why? Let’s just say it’s not fun when all the sudden you’re setting with a bunch of changed horny mountain lions growling at you. LOL Now, don’t worry Mikaela only has the hotts for one of these mountain lions J
There are 5 total brothers and one single father. I really hope that the all get a story that’s just right for them.
So, that’s all I have time for because I have to go back and re-read some parts *wicked grin*

The premise is ridiculous, the hero is crude, shallow, and an absolute disrespectful jerk to the heroine to the point of practically coming off as a sex offender, and though the heroine is, we are repeatedly told, a "strong woman", she still wants to be with this guy? No thank you. Unless heroes who are alpha to the point of making you gaze in incredulous disgust at the pages wondering why the heroine didn't pull out the pepper spray are your type of thing, I do not recommend this.

I recently picked up this book by Mandy Harbin. I have LOVED her Bang Shift series, so I was ready to try another. (And I am in a book review club for her too, but this book was free on at the time anyway).
I liked the overall concept of the story. However, it was just too many elements happening, and some did not seem realistic. I thought the characters were okay. Mikaela was fine, but Josh was so crass right away. It just sort of put me off. I don't mind some dirty talk, but it seemed off to me that these guys aren't usually around single women and he was THAT forward within minutes of meeting her.
The other part I didn't like was that you find out about the family being shifter, and we seem some history about a brother, but the story really does not delve into it. This was what I found really frustrating about this book. It had some great bones, and you were interested, and then it just stopped. When Mikaela does find out about the shifting, she does not even seem phased by it. Which is fine, but at no point does the book mention anything about shifters being commonplace, or at least known about on a level that would not alarm someone.
I don't think you'd be wasting your time by getting this book, but just know it is short, and it seems a bit disjointed. I think I would love to see this book worked on more, and then re-released. I thought the general plot line was just fine, but this had so much detail for so few pages, and it just kept seeming more and more unrealistic.
